Kadaisi Vivasayi is a Tamil drama film written and directed by M. Manikandan. The film stars eighty-five-year-old farmer Nallandi in the lead role and Vijay Sethupathi in a guest role alongside Yogi Babu. The soundtrack of the film was composed by Ilayaraja and the background score was done by Sam C. S. V. Manikandan and Ajith Kumar as cinematographer and editor respectively. Ayanaka Bose is the additional cinematographer for the film. The film was produced by Subhaskaran Alliraja under the banner of Leica Productions.

A village preparing for the festival is introduced in the trailer. Later we see only a farmer (Nallandi) who has not given up farming in that village. He moved his field, planted a crop, and had a crop between several without plots. He was offered money for the land, but he turned it down. Vijay Sethupathi introduces his son and the supporter of Murugan and the elephant Mahot Yogi Babu to us with an elephant named Kalyani. The farmer is shown as an indicted in a case and the investigation is ongoing.
Movie Story:
The story of a Kadaisi is a village celebrating the festival of their local deity together. Mayandi (late actor Nallandi) chooses rice grown in the village soil as the first offering. When he got to work, the death of three peacocks went awry in his plans. He faces imprisonment for a mistake he never made. Can Mayandi harvest rice? Will he prove his innocence? Kadai’s Vivasayi begins with Mayandi’s wonderful scenes about her daily routine. After that, we are shown the villagers and their daily routine. These visuals show the beauty of the countryside and you want to lead your life away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Mayandi leads a tolerable lifestyle and he does not depend on electricity or other technological developments. The next generation of young people in the village has also amaze at the lifestyle that Mayandi leads. There Ramayana as performed by Vijay Sethupathi was going on a spiritual path and lost his sanity after the death of his loved one.
The film is full of different characters and different levels of innocence make up the story. These characters provide much-needed humor to the Kadayi resident. The film slowly sucks you into their world and then unfolds the conflict towards the interval. But, it makes us wait and see what happens next. Many films have portrayed the ‘hero’ who is fighting for the peasantry, and Kadai’s Vivasayi is completely different in its treatment. Here, the director ceases to preach about how agriculture is the backbone of our country. Instead, it celebrates their life and their common pleasures. Music by Santosh Narayanan is an asset to Kadai Vivasai. Despite the minor flaws, Kadai Vivasayi is a beautiful little gem. The cinematography, dialogues, and screenplay provided by Manikandan elevate the film.
