Aayirathil Oruvan movie starts from 1279 AD time period where Chola tribe is ruled by the Pandyas, whereas their king sends his son to the Secret Territory. When Pandyas happen to know about the escape Cola people and King’s son, Pandyas sent their people to explore and find the Chola’s in the territory. 

The year 2009 when the future meets the past

As Aayirathil Oruvan movie progress, it comes to 2009, where an archaeologist, Lavanya (Andrea Jeremiah) is researching on Chola’s and their Kingdom. Also, when the research goes in details, she gets to know that all archaeologist who went on that investigation, were vanished. Hence, the Indian Government helps Lavanya for the investigation under Anitha (Reema Sen) control with the Indian Army. 

Also, the Government employed Muthu (Karthi) to help the army to transport their baggage. As the destination comes closer, all the army officers get killed, whereas Muthi, Anita, and Lavanya gets separated from others. In fact, this leads them to their destination, a village with Chola’s people existence.

As soon as Muthi, Anita, and Lavanya reach the village the King orders to sacrifice them by burning them alive. As a result, Anita seduces the king saying that she is their messenger from the homeland. To save her and others, Anita drug the King and add poison in their water source and run away from that place.

Later, by the end of the movie, things get more clear when they show Anita, as well as the Government leaders, are the descendant of the Pandya Dynasty. Whereas, the Chola people get defeated to the latest technology.
