Oscars 2021: Everything You Need to Know Before the Awards

The Academy Awards, or the Oscars 2021, are one of the most prestigious artistic awards in the entertainment industry for films. They have been around since 1927, and the winners are chosen by the massive 10,000-member Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) committee. This committee has 17 branches and includes actors, associates, casting directors, cinematographers, designers, directors, editors, MUAs, musicians, writers, producers, and much more.

The awards this year honor the best films that were released between January 1st, 2020, and February 28th, 2021, giving plenty of great films the chance to shine.

When Are the Oscars This Year?

The award ceremony is held every year, with the 93rd Academy Awards ceremony occurring on April 25th, 2021. As usual, the event will take place in the Dolby Theater, only this year it will also be held at L.A.’s Union Station, though as of March, not a lot of information has been released. For those of you who keep up to date with the Oscars 2021, this may sound like a very late deadline – and that’s because it is. There have been only a few previous instances when the awards have been postponed, and the pandemic is the fourth instance this has ever happened.

Who is Hosting the 93rd Academy Awards?

For the third time, the Oscars will not have a host. Instead, several different talents will be called on to provide entertainment throughout the night. This is carried on from the 2019 Oscars when Kevin Hart bowed out due to backlash. Despite him bowing out, the 2019 Oscars were one of the most successful in years, and that tradition is continuing for the 93rd Academy Awards.

What Films are Being Nominated?

The traditional rules are that a film must have been in theaters for at least seven consecutive days. This ruling has been scraped – at least for this year – due to the pandemic. You may notice that there have been several streaming-only films included in the nominations list this year, and it is for that reason. You can stream Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus, Netflix, Youtube, Twitch, and some other streaming sites and increase subscriptions buy twitch followers.

What are the Oscar Nominations?

The Oscars 2021 have a much more diverse list of nominations than previous, making the Oscar odds very contentious. This year female directors have broken the record for most nominations in one year, meaning that two women are up for best director. However, there are dozens upon dozens of nominations and awards to be held out.

For most, all eyes will be on the Best Picture Nominations, Best Actor, and Best Actress:
