Sachin – A Billion Dreams has been divided into two major plots. The first plot tells the journey of a young Tendulkar till 1999 while the other is all about the child prodigy turning into “The God of Cricket” and his ambitious World Cup win. The movie has been narrated by the star of the movie himself—Sachin Tendulkar, Harsha Bhogle, and Boria Majumdar. The journey of young Tendulkar has been recreated by James Erskine with real relatives, friends, and coaches sharing their experiences in-between as narrators.
How Sachin Became The God of Cricket
The movie starts with the narration of Tendulkar who is talking about how he developed the love for cricket after India’s 1983 World Cup win. Coach R. Achrekar inspired the young Sachin and shaped his life to become a legend of the future. He gained immense popularity after scoring a whopping 664 run partnership with Vinod Kambli. The film also depicts India-Pakistan rivalry right after which 16-year-old cricket maestro makes his debut that too against Pakistan.
His exceptionally well performance in the coming years led to his selection in the 1992 World Cup squad. Despite India’s poor run in the World Cup series, Sachin kept performing well and his popularity amongst people started touching new heights. It furthers tells how Sachin and his wife Anjali met and fell for each other over a period of time before eventually getting married. They gave birth to two kids. Due to the sudden demise of his father, Sachin played in depression and yet performed exceptionally well. He became “The God of Cricket” after which every Indian kid dreamt of becoming Sachin one day.

India finally won the World in 2013. The nation went crazy and teammates gave the credit of the win to the hard work of Sachin’s 24 long years. He also reached the milestone of 100 centuries against Bangladesh after some time.

Sachin plays his last test in the year 2013 in which he performed well. He scores 74 after which he got out. Sachin gets emotional and so his fans. He delivers a heart-touching speech before bidding farewell to cricket. He thanks his fan for their love and support all through the years with tears in eyes. In the last scene, he is seen walking by the beach calm and satisfied. There is a video after the credit in which Sachin’s father expresses his love for all the family members.
